It was an early friday morning I was preparing for my trip on the R tucker Thompson I had never been on a boat before so it was a new experience for me I was really excited about the trip but I needed to be at school by 7:30 me and my family were up really early we got up at 6:00 and we got ready by 6:30 so we just sat down for a bit and double checked that I had everything after I had everything we went to school we arrived at school a little bit early but still okay. 

My mum dropped me off and went to drop neko off at school by the time whaea gaylene arrived at school it was time to go we all got on the bus and began our journey we had to pick up some kids from the bus depo when they all got on we did a karakia and a waiata then whaea gaylene introduced the parent and adult help then we continued our journey to opua where we would board the R tucker thompson it was a pretty boring trip we just talked the entire way to opua when we got to the dock we hopped aboard the boat and first the crew introduced themselves to us after we were told the rules and the crew names we set sail first we put our bag below deck and then we just walked around the boat we did help the crew with the sails though and it was a lot of work but we got it done we soon got into the activities there were two activities we could do we could climb the mast or climb out onto the bow we had to wear a harness when we did the activities though for safety a lot of people grabbed the harness first so some had to wait until they had finished with it until they could have a turn I also didn’t get a harness so I had to wait, while I waited I just talked to hilton and penaia to pass the time finally there was a free harness so I straight away grabbed it and put it on once I got it on I wanted to go out the front of the boat but they were lifting up the sail so I had to wait. 

Once they finished with the front sail I went out onto the bow it was weird I wasn’t really scared because it was fun there was a lot of us on the bow after that I gave someone else the harness the water was calm and the boat was swaying we didn’t do much for a while but then we had morning tea we ate our morning tea and Te ihi knocked his watermelon in the water it was funny because a fish ate it, soon they let down the anchor and said we could go swimming so we all quickly put our togs on and riot straight away jumped in the water, there was a ladder hanging off the side of the boat so everyone could get back up there was only one ladder so it was very annoying to get back up.

Me and Te ihi forgot our togs so we just jumped in with our pants on and afterwards dripped dry I was jumping in no stop but Te ihi only jumped in once or twice I attempted to perform a forward flip but ended up with a backslap it hurt for a while and it was getting really crowded down by the ladder so me and Tk helped people up so that they could hold onto the side of the boat, after about an hour of swimming we had to get out before we got out we did a chain of all the boys we jumped off one after another.

Once we had finished swimming we did some more climbing I was sitting out the front just looking at the water we had finally arrived at our stop we thanked the crew and carried on we did a quick photo and then waited for the fairy when the fairy arrived we hopped aboard and went back to opua when we left the fairy it was back on the bus we drove back to school dropped some kids off at the bus depo and went home my mum picked me up from school and we went home.
